Yesterday evening's talk by Simone Moro was much appreciated by the public.
The tension is rising in Cortina. The final preparations for the departure at 11 pm from Corso Italia are under way.

Now it is a matter of hours. Cortina d'Ampezzo is preparing for the departure of the eighth edition of the North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail. Tonight at 11 from Corso Italia, in the heart of the Queen of the Dolomites, one thousand athletes from 56 nations will tackle an outstandingly beautiful, but also technical and demanding route. Kilometres: 119, altitude gain: 5,850 metres; numbers that make your legs feel tired just thinking about it.
Together with them, another thousand athletes will leave tomorrow morning at 8 (again from Corso Italia) on the route of the Cortina Trail. For these trailers there will be 47 kilometres and 2,650 metres of altitude gain.

The beauty of the North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail is also found in the possibility for the public to follow the evolution of the race from a number of places. From the first hours of the race, when in order to see the athletes it will necessary to seek out the light of their head lamps, to Saturday morning when the Dolomites that embrace Cortina will be visible in all their splendour, the public will be able to watch and at the same time participate in a trip through the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.

The first competitors will run along Uberto Road (that goes toward Dobbiaco), after 16 kilometres of the race, about 1 hour 20 minutes. This is the first place that can be reached by car to see the transit of the athletes. 
Then it will be possible to see the pace settlers at the Tre Croci pass (28 kilometres from the start) at about 1:20 on Saturday morning. At Misurina, where the competitors will have already travelled 42 kilometres, it will be 3 in the morning. Passing the Auronzo Refuge (48 kilometres from the start), before starting to run under the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, it will be about 3:55 am. The public, if weather conditions permit, it will be able to see the sun rise in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

After passing through Carbonin (63 kilometres - at 5:25) and Cimabanche (67 kilometres - at 5:45) the athletes will pass through Malga Ra Stua, after having faced the Forcella Lerosa, at 7 am. From here, after a few kilometres, the athletes will cross the Val Travenanzes to then arrive at the Col Gallina Refuge check point (95 kilometres from the start - at 9:10). The next place will be at about 9.50 at Passo Giau, after running for 102 kilometres. The competitors, after having run in the shadow of the Croda da Lake, will proceed toward the last check point at Mortise at the 117 kilometre mark at about 11.30. The arrival of the winners is expected shortly afterwards, in that from Mortisa to the finishing line there are only two kilometres to go.

Thursday evening, after the press conference with the latest news from the organizers and the presentation of the top runners, Simone Moro told the story of his life as an explorer. The audience, for this important occasion, filled the conference room of the Alexander Girardi Hall, listening to the life story of a climber who has marked in such an indelible manner the mountaineering way of life.
